Cuisinart Food Processors – Taking Food Processors to new
Heights with the DLC-10S
Food processors have gotten a bad reputation over the years. Some says that they are too bulky and too wieldy
that getting them out of the cupboard and using them is a chore in itself. Cuisinart, a well known brand for
kitchen appliances, has its own share of bulky and large food processors, such as the FP-12DC 12-cup Food
Processor. There is also the even bigger Cuisinart FP-14DC and MP-14N that take 14 cups in their cavernous working
bowls. However, Cuisinart recognizes the flaws that plague food processors and tries to find remedies for them. One
solution is to lessen the amount of ingredients that the food processor can handle, saving space and making the
machine itself smaller. The Cuisinart Pro Classic Food Processor DLC-10S is a prime example.
When fully assembled, the DLC-10S is still no miniature – it stands 13 inches tall and has a width of 7 inches.
However, compared to bigger models, the DLC-10S will surely fit much better in a cramped countertop. The design of
the DLC-10S as well as the package is standard. You get the usual 3-position control switch and the 7-cup working
bowl. You also get the expected extras: the chopping, slicing and shredding disks, a spatula, a feed tube and a
food pusher.
The base houses a 600-watt power motor. When this amount of power is combined with the proper disks, you get an
excellent chopper, blender, mixer, and puree machine. The serrated edges of the blades go through both hard and
soft ingredients with equal efficiency. The DLC-10S needs only seconds to fully process food. If you are after
evenly chopped ingredients, doing a pulse-like motion does the job. The 7-cup working bowl hits the sweet spot – it
is not too large for small ingredients and it is not too small that big ingredients wouldn’t fit. If the DLC-10S is
to have any flaws, it would be the short tube in the feed chute. Foods must be able to fit in the 3-inch tube in
order for the pusher locks into place.
Cuisinart also added a security feature in the DLC-10S. The food pusher is equipped with a plastic clip that
needs to lock in place before the motor starts running. While this is an excellent safety measure, it does add an
additional step in the food processing procedure. Nonetheless, safety conscious persons would delight in this
safety feature from Cuisinart.
