Cuisinart Hand Mixers - Cuisinart Power
Advantage 5-Speed Hand Mixer
In the world of hand mixers, Cuisinart is one of the more well known brands. Cuisinart’s hand mixers have gone
through changes, focusing more on ergonomics and aesthetically pleasing designs. Nonetheless, the different
models of hand mixers from Cuisinart share certain features, such as the mixing power and the bonuses included
in the package. One such hand mixer is the Cuisinart Power Advantage 5-Speed Hand Mixer (HM-50).
The HM-50 still has the same 220-watt power that is present in other Cuisinart hand mixers. This amount of
power allows you to mix virtually anything – even the heaviest cookie dough that came straight from your
refrigerator. One of the unique features of the HM-50 is that it comes with 5 speed settings instead of the
usual 3.
These 5 speed settings allow you to move from the easiest to mix to the most taxing ones, such as a double
batch of cookie dough. It also has the Cuisinart’s Automatic Feedback that automatically adjusts the power
output if the hand mixer deems it necessary. No need to fumble with the speed buttons since the HM-50
determines the right amount of power needed to get the job done. However, if you are more into mixing just
light products, you might want to just manually do it. The lowest setting of the HM-50 seems to be much too
powerful, which could send light ingredients flying all over the place.
If the HM-50 has any flaws, the weight takes center stage. It weighs a hefty 3.2 pounds. While not overly
heavy, it might take some effort when doing extended mixing. Nonetheless, the ergonomic design of the HM-50
alleviates some of the discomfort that one gets when using a hand mixer. The HM-50 is an ambidextrous hand
mixer – it can be used with the left or the right hand, thanks to the patented swivel cord that you can set in
any way that’s comfortable.
Just like its predecessor, the HM-50 comes with two extra-long and extra-wide beaters that are dishwasher-safe
and easy to clean. These beaters are specially designed to avoid clogging the main mechanism. The center post
of the beaters is removed so that ingredients don’t go creeping into the motor, potentially clogging it. The
beaters can easily be ejected as well. All it takes is a press of the Beater Eject button and they’re off.
The Cuisinart HM-50 combines ease of use and power, making it a formidable choice for a hand mixer.
